New Valentino collection

Rome once again became the center of fashion excitement, and Alessandro Michele proved that he can listen to the archives without losing his own voice. The new Valentino collection Fall 2026 is a subtle play of tensions between the house’s history and the designer’s contemporary sensibility. It’s a tribute to Valentino Garavani’s aesthetic, filtered through today’s need for refined restraint.

The collection shows inspiration from the 1980s, which Michele recalls as a time of female independence and fashion courage. Asymmetrical cuts, velvet dresses, and contrasting color combinations —mustard, emerald, and burgundy. All of this creates a bold, almost theatrical atmosphere.

The show at Palazzo Barberini emphasized this narrative. The baroque interiors were contrasted with synthetic grass on the floor, creating a combination of symbolism, history, and contemporary sensibility typical of Michele. Thus, the autumn collection of Valentino does not cut itself off from the past; rather, it engages in a fascinating dialogue with it.
