In light of the recent news of a collaboration between two icons – the house of Versace and the incomparable artist Dua Lipa – the fashion world has been holding its breath in anticipation of the upcoming explosion of creativity. These two industrial powerhouses decided to join forces to create a collection that turned out to be a true hymn to boldness, style and unstoppable expression. ,,La Vecanza”, or the Versace x Dua Lipa collection was presented on May 23rd and the venue coincided with the most extravagant film festival that takes place there, and of course we are talking about Cannes. How did this collaboration look like and what is the collection that is the fruit of the joint work of these two extraordinary women?
An explosive combination of fashion and music
Versace isn’t the only brand to leverage the power of high-profile co-designers – particularly musicians. Erykah Badu recently launched a collection with Italian fashion house Marni, and Blackpink’s Jennie Kim became the face of a campaign Chanel.

Many artists in the fashion industry have tried to use their popularity to create their own collections. Few have managed to do it with such perfection as Dua Lipa. Her undisputed musical talent and unique style are the perfect complement to the craftsmanship of the Versace fashion house, which has always been synonymous with exclusivity and courage.
Versace x Dua Lipa Collection
The singer’s collaboration with the creative director of Versace dates back to 2018. That’s when Lipa wore a Versace leotard and denim jacket combo for her first-ever Brit Award performance. Last year, she had the opportunity to appear on the runway again during the brand’s collection show, presenting designs from the luxury fashion house.
This time, however, things are completely different. Donatella Versace and Dua Lipa join forces to create a joint summer women’s collection, titled “La Vacanza” in Italian. The Italian fashion house has long understood that fashion is more than just clothes. The initiative itself was hailed after the premiere of the collection a triumph for the fashion and popular culture industry. This has only underscored the need to bring the industry together to create multidisciplinary experiences.

The title of the collection is not a coincidence that it refers to the holiday season. The show was organized by the pool, whose turquoise waters perfectly matched the summer designs, simply made to be worn in seaside resorts. It is safe to say that the aesthetics of the collection are taken straight from the movie “Barbie”. Interestingly, Lipa appears on the soundtrack to the upcoming film adaptation by Greta Gerwing. The colors are undoubtedly dominated by turquoise and, of course, pink in the shade of “Baby Pink”.

The atmosphere was faithfully reflected by the fitted models of bandage and lingerie dresses. However, these were rightly broken by the aesthetics of the house. So there were chain straps, strap corsets, metallic details and medallions. Among the models’ silhouettes, powder-colored suits also drew attention. The entire collection could not be complete without Donatella’s beloved little black dress, presented in a variety of incarnations. The most attention was drawn by the lively baroque costume jewelry.
The creators of “La Vacanca” Donatella and Dua also appeared in sensual black creations. This is certainly a new version of the iconic Italian fashion house. The collection includes modern interpretations of iconic Versace designs, enriched with musical influences and Lipa’s style. The singer herself described the collection as “funny and flirty”. And that’s what she is, although perhaps a more accurate description would be “funny and flirty with a Versace edge.”
